The most hyped fashion trends of SS’22 that you should consider to buy now.

As this in-between season gets more annoying, with relatively warm spring days that turn into cold freezing winter at night, I am tempted to overlook 2022’s biggest fashion trends, seen on the runways in September, in favor of a 24/7 sweatpants existence XD. However, as we know, and I keep repeating myself, too much is not healthy (also when it comes to tracksuits and other comfortable clothes). Therefore, today I will remember with you what trends for the upcoming season that are conquering the spring and summer streets of cities. Let’s get it started!

  • MINI AND MICRO MINI SKIRTS
MIU MIU

One of controversial early 2000s trends to resurface in recent months is ultra mini skirt, just next to visible thong strings and low-rise jeans. Upping the high fashion ante, most notably, Italian designer Miuccia Prada showed a collection of super-short skirts as part of Prada’s and Miu Miu’s spring 2022 collections. The trend is growing , why? There’s a combination of generational desire to go back to a time in fashion when it was fun and mindless. Older generation is nostalgic and new younger generation that’s exploring trends and are inspired by these archival images of pop stars like Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, or Beyoncé.

  • HIGHLIGHTER YELLOW
MOSCHINO

This Spring/Summer 2022 trend perfectly embodies the idea of a sunny disposition. In 2021, a pale yellow was a chic option to opt for over cream, but in 2022 it’s all about the bright, almost-neon sunshine hue. The designer such as Jason Wu, Versace and Sergio Hudson all showed the shade in different ways. Whatever way you wear it, this color is guaranteed to brighten your mood.

  • RUFFLE SOMEONE’S FEATHERS
FENDI

Minimalists, look away now! There’s few textural joys that scream ‘fun fashion’ as loudly as feathers do, and what a delight it was to see them shimmying down runways in so many variations. From skirt hems to sleeve trims, there’s a myriad of ways to incorporate plumage into your outfit. Or why not go full high fashion Big Bird in a head-to-toe feathered gown.

Feathers are associated with Old Hollywood glamour, thinking back to images of black-and-white screen stars like Jean Harlow or Marlene Dietrich, the undisputed queen of feathery frocks. Thankfully, feathers are no longer reserved solely for formal vintage vixens.

These days, the latest plumed styles feel so much more casual—think trimmed tops and mini dresses as opposed to floor length-gowns and dressing robes. And of course, the trend has been creeping up on the runways for a while now.

  • SKY-HIGH PLATFORMS
MEDUSA AEVITAS VERSACE

High Heels Platform are making a serious comeback, the higher the better. The platform is bringing an optimistic take on post-lockdown fashion and elevating us to new heights. Though we all know it better as a trend that emerged on the disco dance floors of the ’70s and as part of the ’90s punk movement, the higher-than-ever shoes actually originated in Greece around 600 BCE, where people wore them as a form of social standing. In the 16th century, the Venetians wore platforms to keep their dresses from dragging on the floor, before the 1930s came with designers like Salvatore Ferragamo bringing the shoe to the modern era via Judy Garland’s iconic rainbow platforms.

  • METALIC SHIMMER
TOM FORD

This season sees a new way to do metallic spangle without the need for sequins which are very damaging to the environment. Instead, maybe it is time to encourage yourself to get your shine via liquid metal sheens; a far subtler, more grown-up and contemporary take on shimmer. Predominantly found in golds and silvers, these sheeny dreams create a molten metal feel as luxurious, shimmering fabric appears to be falling around your body.
